The First Ever Live Online Meet and Greet Pet Adoption Event, Revolutionizing Pet Adoptions Around the World
Kent Animal Shelter, recipient of the 2009 Shelter of the Year award, and Petwebdesigner.com, a pet website
design firm on Long Island, are teaming up to do the first ever real-time live online pet adoption event on July
17th, 2010 from 1 PM – 4 PM EST. The goal is to offer the entire Tri-state area of potential pet adopters a way to
see pets that are available for adoption at the no-kill shelter with a live video and audio feed right from the
comfort of home.
East Meadow, NY (PRWEB) June 24, 2010 — In an effort to expand the reach of Kent Animal Shelter and other
shelters all across the United States to a broader community rather than just their own neighborhoods,
Petwebdesigner.com has developed a revolutionary website, AnimalRoulette.com, that aims to change the way pet
adoptions can be done all over the world. The premise is simple. People looking to adopt pets can log onto the
website, and they will be randomly put into a live video chat room with either another pet lover or a pet that is
available for adoption. Pet lovers can share stories or introduce their pets to other pet lovers on the site, and
people looking to adopt a pet can also find shelter animals that are looking for a new home. Kent Animal Shelter will
be the first shelter to ever participate in this incredible new program. The goal is to provide an online community
for pet lovers to find shelter animals they would like to adopt.
The first real time live online adoption event is scheduled for July 17, 2010 from 1 PM – 4 PM EST. People interested in adopting a pet should visit www.AnimalRoulette.com July 17 to see pets that are currently available for adoption at Kent. People visiting the site during the online event should have a web cam installed on their computer so they can take part in the live video and audio chat exchange. If they are happy with the animal or pet lover they are talking with, they can stay in the chat room. If they want to see another pet available, they can simply click “next”to enter another chat room, hence the “roulette” in the name.
“I know how much shelters in this country struggle to find homes for their animals, and I felt that today’s
opportunity of real time on the Internet provided the perfect place for pet lovers all over the country to see what’s available,” said Michael Ayalon, CEO of Petwebdesigner.com. “Now potential pet adopters can come to
AnimalRoulette.com and find other pet lovers and pets for adoption that need a new home. You’ll find cats and
dogs for adoption of all breeds available. It gives an audience to the pets that don’t get seen every day, or that
have been in a shelter a long time. We hope to make this video and audio technology improve the adoption rates
for shelters all over the United States. Kent Animal Shelter was the perfect partner for the project because of their outstanding work as a no-kill shelter since 1968.”
“Over 700 animals per year are placed in new homes from Kent Animal Shelter,” commented Pamela Green, Director
at Kent Animal Shelter in Calverton, New York. “We are always looking for new ways to expand that number given
our location and our facilities, so it makes sense to offer people looking to adopt a pet more than just a photo.
They should be able to see the pet’s disposition live in order to determine if the pet would make a good addition
to their family. AnimalRoulette.com gives us that ability. Once we find a match, then we would invite the adopting
family to fill out the online adoption form on our website and schedule a time to complete the adoption.” Kent
Animal Shelter is passionate about helping shelter animals and advocating compassion in all of their dealings with
other creatures, human and otherwise.
